Privacy Policy
Last reviewed on 7 May 2026
This privacy policy explains what information Salmon Recipes ("the site", "we") collects when you visit salmonrecipes.net, why it is collected, how long it is kept, and the choices you have. It applies to all pages on this domain.
1. Who is responsible
Salmon Recipes operates this site as the data controller for the limited personal data described below. For privacy questions, contact us at contact@salmonrecipes.net.
2. Data we collect directly
Salmon Recipes does not run a contact form, account system, comment system, or newsletter on this domain. We do not knowingly collect names, postal addresses, phone numbers, or payment data on the site itself.
If you choose to email us at the address on the contact page, your email address and the contents of your message are stored in our mailbox so we can read and reply. We use that information only to handle your enquiry.
3. Data collected automatically
Like most websites, we and our service providers receive limited technical information whenever a page is loaded. This typically includes:
- Your IP address (often truncated by analytics tools before storage).
- Browser type and version, operating system, and device type.
- The page you requested, the page you came from (referrer), and the time of the request.
- Approximate location derived from IP address (usually country or region level).
- Cookies and similar technologies set by analytics and advertising vendors (see section 5).
4. Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand which pages are read, on what devices, and how visitors arrive at the site. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device and processes IP-derived information on Google's infrastructure. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before being used for analytics reporting. We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual visitors.
You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
5. Advertising — Google AdSense and third-party vendors
Salmon Recipes is part of the Google AdSense advertising programme. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites. This is sometimes called personalised advertising.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings.
- You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising via aboutads.info (US) or YourOnlineChoices (EU/UK).
- For more information on how Google uses data when you use partners' sites or apps, see Google's policy on advertising.
For users in regions that require it (such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland), Google may show a consent message before personalised advertising is used. Choices made there are honoured by Google's ad-serving systems.
6. Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by sites you visit. We classify the cookies on this site into three groups: strictly necessary, analytics, and advertising. The cookie policy explains each category in more detail and shows you how to refuse or delete cookies in your browser.
7. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the legal bases on which we rely are:
- Consent — for analytics and advertising cookies that are not strictly necessary, where consent is required.
- Legitimate interests — for security, basic site operation, and aggregated, non-personalised analytics where local law permits.
- Performance of a request — when you email us, in order to reply.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you and request a copy.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Ask us to delete data we no longer need to keep.
- Object to certain types of processing, including direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent for cookie-based tracking at any time, without affecting processing that already happened.
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. Salmon Recipes does not sell personal information for money. To exercise any right, email contact@salmonrecipes.net with the request and the country or state you are writing from.
9. Data retention
- Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to handle your request and a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping, then deleted.
- Analytics data in Google Analytics is retained according to the data-retention setting configured in our property; aggregated reports may be kept indefinitely.
- Cookies have their own expiry dates set by each cookie; see the cookie policy for details.
10. International transfers
Some of the service providers we rely on (notably Google) operate globally. When data is transferred outside your country, the providers we use are expected to apply appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms recognised by your local data-protection authority.
11. Children
The site is a general-audience cooking resource. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change or when required by law. The "Last reviewed" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent material update. Significant changes may also be flagged on the home page.
13. Contact
For any privacy question, email contact@salmonrecipes.net. If you live in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
